Many dial-ups are known as "win-modems" and getting support in GNU/Linux for these isn't always straightforward. There is usually a work around for everything though so I'm sure someone else, who's more knowledgable, on the list will be far more helpful than I! > For someone with only dial-up internet access how might I get another Linux > >anyway ? Pick up a copy of one of the Linux magazines: Linux Format is my favourite and has helped me a lot over the last year while I've gone from Windows to Linux. They always have at least one distro on the cover disc with good installation instructions. I hope I've at least been some help!
