Not wanting to stop the install of linux, but linux rescue CD's/disks 
are great in these situations  at reseting the partition table with 
fdisk there are also some tools that try to guess what the partition 
table should be if you don't know where the partiton sectors start and 
end etc. I have rescued various windows problems loads of times with a 
good old linux rescue kit.
