Re: [LUG] 32/64 bit

Not got any experience with 64 bit computing, I know that kanotix supports 64bit processors, as there is both a 32 and 64 bit computing, I would guess normal debian is available in 64 bit too. (kanotix is based on sid).

I have a benq tft monitor which works fine, model FP731, this works under suse, as there are drivers for suse, plus it works great with what kanotix,

Hope this helps.

My current computer is so old that I need to start again. Luckily, in my
home town (Holsworthy) there is a very good computer specialist/shop
who will build to order. Also, to my surprise, two of the people who
work there, including the main engineer, have a reasonable knowledge of
Linux.

They have talked about going for 64 bit computing. I see that Mandriva
2006 include a 64 bit version. They also suggest that I should have a
flat screen monitor (TFT).

Any comments, warnings, help and/or suggestions will be gratefully
received.
