HiAfter doing a few updates, I can no longer graphically log in, I get the graphical log in box, type my user name / password, (default wm is kde), I get the kanotix kde start up screen, it gets as far as starting perhiperals, then the screen goes blank for a few seconds and I am presented with the login screen again. It seems to be having problems loading the window manager which is what comes up next,
my system is now pretty much up to date, I have removed the older instance of openoffice.org 1.1.4 which, and just ran apt-get update, apt-get upgrade, in order to ensure that everything is fully uptodate. I am not sure whats wrong here, I can select icewm as a alternative window manager so i can at least access the net, and mail services.
Thanks for any pointers, I would guess it does not like something somewhere. strangly I can login as root now problem, using kde. Also how do I get a list of all installed packages. Once this is fixed I want to remove some apps that are never used,
