Thanks for asking, it is based on the wel-known sed script, gres, only with other features. It supports Basic or Extended regex's, or fixed text (like fgrep), and does text search/substitutions. These can be to stdout, or can create file copies (with changes) in a target directory, and can act recursively on a directory tree. So it is useful for applying mass changes to large numbers of files. Regex's are GNU regex engine plus perl-like extensions, including back-references.Clive
