Of course, Freedom and Government are also mutually exclusive. Our own government is as much in the hands (and pockets) of the big corporations, and all corporations are by their very nature anti-democratic (after all, their internal structure is hierarchical dictatorship). This is one of the reasons I like the GNU/Linux movement in the first place, it is a true movement in the spirit of individualist libertarianism (or what gets called elsewhere anarchy or free communism), in that it proves that things can work without a centralised power structure or authoritian hierarchy) which is probably why the forces of liberal democracy(*) find it so threatening.
