A decade ago, the same might have been said of the different versions of html around the web. These days, web standards are common practise. Although there are still many badly coded sites out there. One would think that a standard for mailing lists would be easier to implement. Would just be a matter of getting all the major players on board (Yahoo, Wanado (Smartgroups), majordomo etc), and a group like the W3C to facilitate. I suppose also the players in the email client market (both web based and local), should be on board, but mainly as receptive to the changes they could implement for their users to take advantage of the new standards. Once the standards are set, the vast majority of lists will be compliant by default, when they upgrade their servers. Yahoo and Wanado can change theirs overnight. -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG Mail majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with "unsubscribe list" in the message body to unsubscribe.
