It's possible that this ethernet 'modem' is in fact a router. My D-Link
DSL 300T is described as a modem but it contains an embedded linux system
and you can telnet to it. If it is an ethernet device it has got to do
network address translation and this makes it a router. The ones to throw
away are the USB modems.
