..install Debian:)I just have to track down some RAID drivers.
I installed Debian 3 (Woody) onto a Dell PowerEdge 1500 server, which needed SCSI/RAID and network drivers - that was a fun morning! Make sure you install the "2.2.20-compact" kernel rather than the default, as you'll get better support for this sort of hardware. If you need some guidance in adding driver modules let me know; I've written down all the steps in some detail.
