I didn't know that.

I built a new home machine for myself this summer using a new ASUS A7N8X-E
mobo which runs GNU/Linux ok. This board uses the NVIDIA nForce2 chipset for
Athlon XP. The only problem I have had with this board is that the on-board
sound was producing quite poor-quality output and I eventually disabled it
and stuck in the SBLive card from my old machine.

After reading your post I googled the problem and found a great deal of
vitriol at
http://www.mozillaquest.com/Linux04/Asus_Sucks_Story-01.html
but I haven't yet found any other supportive evidence. If there is a case to
be made against Asus I will be annoyed with myself, as I would rather not buy
product from companies who go out of their way to be anti-linux.
