Is the solution to just use "chmod" and change the permissions accordingly? Peter
Ideally, you'd chmod them back to what they were before the backup. Alas, that's probably difficult to work out, so to get yourself out of the fix it's probably a workable short term solution to chmod +w each file. This may be less secure that you'd eventually like, but it *will* get your mail back and give you some breathing space to work out what the permissions should really be. Don't ask me how I know this. jd -- John Daragon argv[0] limited john@xxxxxxxxxx Lambs Lawn Cottage, Staple Fitzpaine, Taunton TA3 5SL, UK (house) 01460 234537 (office) 01460 234068 (mobile) 07836 576127 (fax) 01460 234069 -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG Mail majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxx with "unsubscribe list" in the message body to unsubscribe.
