Re: [LUG] Wireless Card Config

Hello - I have a pcmcia wireless card which seems to be adding complications to your earlier suggestions. Unfortunately, I can't change settings using iwconfig, I believe because the control lies with the pcmcia bits. I am running SuSe 8.2 which seems to have loaded everything necessary to make this work, as my card led is constant and bright, indicating that it has found the access point & additionally Kwifi shows strong signal strength.

Can someone help me interrogate my systems further and explain how I might make changes to the settings (ESSID, encryption key etc) as YaST doesn't seem to make the changes I input.

Any good books I could buy on this topic ?

thanks
George

you could use 192.168.0.0/24
to describe the local network but it doesn't seem to matter:

See:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/archive/41/2003/12/4/125506
NWID: ANY

or:
http://www.foldr.org/~michaelw/wireless.html
NWID: 0

inet 192.168.101.254 255.255.255.0 NONE nwid mediaopt hostap
nwkey 0x
Replace with a short string for your network, doesn't matter what
it is.
