I wonder if anyone can offer any advice... I've installed Mandrake 10 so I can run Eclipse and Tomcat. I wanted these apps to run as services so created a couple of scripts to handle this. The scripts (tomcat and eclipseinfocenter) are in /etc/rc.d/init.d and have the same permissions as other scripts in the same location.
