[LUG] Which Distribution - Debian

Ok,

so as debian seems to be a pretty good distribtuion, and I can get my hands on a copy now from the Linux ISO site, I'm downloading a copy as I type. I'll still go and try and track down that May issue of Linux Format to get the MDK discs, and then I can compare the two, but I'd just like to get a working system running Linux and see how it goes for now.

 

Apparently the install isn't that straightforward, but it sounds like the kind of challenge you can only learn from, so it can't be too bad.

 

Thanks for the help, no doubt I'll be hanging around with more queries at some point.

 

(Actually, are there any programs that let you play music cds on Debian/Linux? I'm still without a working hi-fi...)
