[LUG] Government / EU Takes open source seriously - NOT

http://www.socitm.gov.uk/Public/SIAG/open+source.htm

and

http://cospa.case.unibz.it/about.html

Well having just stumbled across the above project See "Socitm Open Source
Pilots" link on above, (sorry I would give you the more direct link but it
kept falling over on my browser when I tested it ) I'm (almost) too stunned
for words.

Apparently Socitm are offering a whole 10,000 euros to aid in the
implementation of the role out. Now call me cynical but exactly how are you
supposed to turn 10,000 euros into a linux/GNU OSS Desktop Role out across a
local authority (even the smallest one you can think of) ? This would
include the cost of a monthly report of progress to the projects observers.

And for my next trick I will turn water into wine.

I think the listed observers may end up with nothing to observe !

Tom.
