[LUG] Long shot...

I'm still trying to get a DVD to stream over my network, everything I've tried has so far been unsuccessful :-(

Matt very helpfully pointed out that xine has a little script for streaming Audio CDs and DVDs over TCP. I've managed to succesfully compile the "cdda_server", and it seems to run okay without any errors:

server:~/xine-lib-1-rc3a/misc# ./cdda_server /dev/dvd 3002
CDDA / DVD tcp server v0.1
Using libdvdcss version 1.2.8 for DVD access
listening on port 3002...

I've also successfully patched libdvdcss (albeit version 1.2.8 instead of 1.2.6 as the instructions state). However, when I try to get xine to read the DVD, it says:

jon@xxxxxx:~$ xine dvd://server:3002/
This is xine (X11 gui) - a free video player v0.9.23.
(c) 2000-2003 The xine Team.
libdvdnav: Using dvdnav version 1-rc3a from http://xine.sf.net
libdvdread: Using libdvdcss version 1.2.8 for DVD access
libdvdread: Could not open /server:3002 with libdvdcss.
libdvdread: Can't open /server:3002 for reading
libdvdnav: vm: faild to open/read the DVD

Connecting via telnet gives a rather more cryptic response:
jon@xxxxxx:~$ telnet server 3002
Trying 192.168.0.100...
Connected to server.
Escape character is '^]'.
dvd_read
-1 0

I've checked everything I can think of. /dev/dvd is world-readable. I've tried it with the DVD drive mounted (on /dvd, world readable) and unmounted but to no avail.

Any suggestions?

Cheers,

Jon
