Anyway more on topic! Any one got any experience of using Oracle on Linux?
I'm an avid user of Oracle on Solaris and Windows platforms but I'm yet to
look into Oracle on Linux, even though it now seems Oracles platform of
choice.

I'm just going through the err... experience of putting Oracle 9i, Application
Server and Content Manager on RedHat 8.0. It's interesting, and it involves
much pre-installation work (mainly kernel params, but also finding the
correct JRE for your version of glibc)

My trouble is that I thought I understood Oracle (having installed 7 on AIX
3.2...) but I don't. And they've gone all java and objecty on me, too.
(Never trust a language that doesn't have an unsigned integer)

There is a HOWTO which covers 9i, more or less, at :

www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Oracle-9i-RH8-and-RH9-HOWTO.html

Give me a shout if there's anything I might be able to help with...
