I used to use one of the sessions to telnet into a SuSE 8.2 laptop, purely for the purpose of running emacs in text mode.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to the best way to do this from xp? telnetting from an xp command prompt doesn't result in a useable display, using windows hyperterminal is not much better.
PuTTY. Uses telnet if you insist, but is intended for ssh which is surely preferable.
