Re: [LUG] OT: New CD Formats?

Hi Gemma

Have a look at Linux Format this month and it will explain all your woes. Record companies are not producing CD's that are broken. It is an attempt to stop illegal copying. I believe it is somewhat like a fridge manufacturer objecting to the way you use fridge because they don't like you storing carrots in it. The problem is the fridge manufacturer can't stop you doing this - the record companies can! Take the cd back and tell them it is faulty and you want one within copy protection.

there has been a court case recently in holland i where the record

side is that the disks cant be played on some old equipment

The CD did have copy protection, according to Nero on my windows computer, but
it didn't prevent me from making a copy. Which you would expect copy
protection to do.
