In other words the server is not switched on or the router is not switched
on,  I think he said he was having some electrical problems, or his
neighbour was.

The no route to host means just that, the username that the IP you are
trying
to connect to doesn't have a PPPo[AE] session to any of our ADSL home
gateways or CALs.

It's not BT (afaik - we've had no fault report), and it's not AnlX - blame
neill, not me ;)
