[LUG] SUSE 8.2+ Gnome and pppd

dear all

Could some one help me. I have load Suse 8.2 which works well but I am having 
problems with;
- I cannot get Gnome to appear in my login window choice of windows managers
- pppd does not work I get the message /etc/resolv.conf missing or not given 
permissions

anyone help?
