Teraterm trumps Hyperterminal, and it is free software. Not sure about
Wyse60 (I assume that is what was meant) emulation.

In the Linux world check out Minicom, or Kermit (cross platform). Not
seen a "cu" clone (cu was a Unix utility) but I'm sure one must exist ;-)

Kermit is old but it inspires similar devotion in it's adherents as vi
or emacs, so I assume it has some really powerful stuff under the hood.
On the upside it is the only serial comms app I've ever used that
produces meaningful error messages!
