I am a member of the New York Linux Users Group (NYLUG - http://www.nylug.org). On May 17 Paul first posted to our nylug-talk mailing list, something he wrote set me thinking. About sister-city programs, the kind that New York City has with Yokahama, Japan, for example. You are familiar with the concept. It's a great concept, thus I realized a LUG analog is only natural. A chance at various opportunities, and benefits to be had by in/formal sister-LUGs. BTW, I agree with Peter, if nothing more than a cheap place to crash comes of it, that's cool in-and-of-itself. But, who knows. Read my post above (18 May). Our group is populated by folks 'in' various nations, I suspect there's a good possiblity for ... . We are presently working on Germany, Belgium and others, progress is nascent. BTW, as an example of a benefit, I am aware of a rooming house (crotchety, rickity, but still) that rents weekly nooms for ~USD $99.00, is in Jersey City, New Jersey, i.e., ~30 minutes from Manhattan via the PATH train (~$2.00 one way fare). That's the kind of inside knowledge only a local can provide. 8) And Jersey City has some mean diverse restaurant cuisines, you might not want to go into Manhattan (NYC).
