Not sure if you can get .deb or .rpm from the open office site, I have 1.0.3
and a beta version on cdrom which I have downloaded, your welcome to that,
mail me off list to swap details.

Normally it's tar.gz just use the archive program in what ever window
manager you are using and then extract from there, then run setup,
