Also when you are reading is it using a SCSI driver or an IDE driver. If
IDE maybe you forgot to ensure that lilo.conf has an "hdb=ide-scsi" on
the append line.

Quite a lot of manufacturers recommend the CD burners be on their own
IDE channel, although I've noticed most just work anyway, certainly
under Linux.
