Disclaimer: I'm a newbie, don't take this as Gospel ;) I've been advised previously that HardDrake isn't exactly great at accuracy so the best indicator is what the program or a shell says :) Would I be right to think 0.1.0 would map to Primary Master on the IDE bus and 1.1.0 is Secondary Master? If that were the case does that mean that 0.2.0 is Primary Slave? BTW I'm assuming you changed the jumper setting for the drive from Secondary to Primary if necessary? Kind regards, Julian On Fri, 2003-04-18 at 18:31, Jonathan Melhuish wrote: > -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- > Hash: SHA1 > > I swapped it from being on the same IDE channel as the hard disk to the other > one, and now it doesn't appear on the scsi-bus anymore (reads fine, doesn't > write). > > Cdrecord says: > [root@xxxxxxxxx jon]# cdrecord -scanbus > Cdrecord 1.11a32 (i586-mandrake-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2002 Jörg > Schilling > Linux sg driver version: 3.1.24 > Using libscg version 'schily-0.6' > scsibus0: > 0,0,0 0) * > 0,1,0 1) * > cdrecord: Warning: controller returns wrong size for CD capabilities page. > 0,2,0 2) 'Philips ' '40x PCA408CD ' 'UH02' Removable CD-ROM > ... > > Which I think is what it said before, but a suitable identification string use > to appear at 0,1,0.
