I thought you just have to agree where to meet with IRC?!

freenode seems the obvious network, #dclug the obvious channel, but I
don't know much about IRC so I hope someone will turn up and explain
things to me.

So I'll sit on #dclug, port 6667, irc.freenode.net and see what happens.

I think the archive on CD isn't worth the effort. I doubt we'll ever
have a meeting without an Internet connection, unless we go caving ot
something, none of the ones I've been to have had less than 14.4Kbps
Internet connection to my knowledge, even if a third of the bandwidth
was given over to error correction.
