Just to clarify: what I should have said here was:
I USED to have trouble even opening the(se types of) message(s) (in OE). 

KMail doesn't have problems with inline or mime signatures, the version I use 
just doesn't validate mime attachment signatures. In the bad old days before 
I got used to Linux, when I still used OE, these types of messages were 
around and caused no end of problems for OE6 on WinME. Thankfully, WinME was 
erased at Christmas (nice pressie that one). 

Brevity has limits.
