i'd recommend an external ADSL router, though they are a wee bit more
expensive that USB ones.

The best from all imho (and the ones the customers seem to like) are the
draytek vigors, and the cisco 827a's, though the ciscos are raaather pricy ..

Speaking from recent experience (note change of email address), I'd second the motion.

Initially, I has a Speedtouch 330 (Aubergine frog USB). It worked fine with my Win98 box but wouldn't talk to my Smoothwall or Mandrake boxen. Eclipse swapped it for a Speedtouch 530, which is a combo USB / ethernet single-port box, and it talks to everything. Highly configurable through the web interface - not that I know enough to do so yet.

It cost 25 more than the 330 but is worth it.
