|     I think there are different methods of encryption. IIRC >=NT4 SP6
|     had a more secure encryption system. I *think* 9x shared the earlier
|     NT4 security, but it may even have no encryption. It may be you need
|     to tell it to allow the earlier encryption.

You'll need to find out weather or not the W98 box is set to encrypt
passwords, i know by default it does, but this _may_ have been disabled.

Just an idea.. let us know how it goes.
