I know zilch abbout database GUIs.  But I know they exist: every package
manager on Linux or FreeBSD offers me a selection of them.  If I wanted
one, I'd just install and test-drive it.

Have you tried PhpMyAdmin?  I have it installed on my server and it is great 
for configuring MySQL databases over the web, without typing all of the 
commands into the console.

I doubt that quite meets your point-and-click expectations, though...
