Daniel I've set : Valid Users= +public_drive_users Write List = +public_drive_users The "+" making sure it checks the UNIX User database rather than anything else... I've also edited the fstab file for: /mnt/fatdrive /dev/sdc1 vfat gid=504,umask=002 0 0 Where 504 is the proper group ID. No joy... :o( Mart mail-lists@xxxxxxxxxxx Sent by: owner-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx 28/11/02 14:34 Please respond to list To: "list@xxxxxxxxxxxx" <list@xxxxxxxxxxxx> cc: Subject: Re: [LUG] Vfat & Samba bit strange, sounds a bit like the permissions for the samba share are'nt set properly?.. have you tried some of the following - try rechecking the access permissions for the samba share that represents the drive on your linuxbox? -- i use linuxconf to edit my samba config etc but i you should be able to check the samaba share access permissions by editing the smb.conf file... Hi there Can anyone suggest what I should do? I've added an existing drive to my RH7.2 system. It's formatted as FAT
and
has existing files I want to keep (for now). I've created /mnt/fatdrive/ and mounted sdc1 (the drive) to it. I can
view
& write as root. I want to make this drive avaialble as a public access drive (internally
for my network users) via Samba and have created a Linux group called public_drive_users. I've setup the samba share and can view & read files
from a Win client but can't write. RH won't let me change the access control for /mnt/fatdrive/ How can I add/edit the access control to allow public_drive_users full read/write access? TIA.
