[LUG] dialup woes

I must be completely stupid and missing something obvious.

I set up my new debian install as host "debian" and domain "local". I
set up no default route, cos I've not got one until I dial up. I set
up an 10.0.0.x network for local machines.

Now I want to use my demon account for dialup.

So, I set up wvdial in the normal way and I can't route once I'm
up. netstat -nr shows a router, presumably one that demon told me
about during negotiation.

Anyway, I tinker, like a numpty, and now pppd dies as soon as it gets
in.

I'm going from CDs, so I'm only on pppd 3.summat and a 2.2 kernel.

This shouldn't be this hard.

Any ideas?

Steve
