v92 is a new dial-up modem specification which adds three nifty new 
features:

Quick connect - this shortens the time taken to connect by remembering the 
phone line characteristics.

PCM Upstream - This boosts the upstream speed of the connection to decrease 
upload times.

Modem-on-hold - This allows you to recieve and make calls on the phone line 
that you are using the modem on and stay connected (you need call waiting 
though)
