It's possible you aren't being allocated a gateway via the DHCP isn't
it?

I missed the first part of this. But if you're not getting name resolution,
what does /etc/resolv.conf show? Do you usually let your ISP automatically
set up the name servers to use? If so then it sounds like you're not being
connected correctly. If you manually set the name servers, then its a
different problem. What does '/sbin/ifconfig -a' and 'netstat -rn' show? (As
said above by Ian this will show if a gateway is being supplied.)
