Re: [LUG] /proc/misc temperature?

This machine is a Dell, and boasts an entry for temperature in /proc/misc

Lucky you.

Hey my BIOS knows how hot it is as well, although it doesn't
seem to report it to Linux.

There is something in /dev as well.

Is that going to be the CPU temperature, and how do I turn it into numbers or
action or something.

Watchdog reports CPU temperature in Fahrenheit in
/dev/temperature - what luddite programmed that I wonder? - urm
Alan Cox.... Surely if he is an Imperialist, he must be on the
dark side.

The i8K driver for Dell hides CPU temp (in a slightly more
modern temperature scale but still not Kelvin) in a long string
in /dev/i8k
