[LUG] Raw mode floppies on old toshiba laptop

I'm trying to install Debian on an old Toshiba running M$ Windoze 3.11. I
know it would make more sense to buy something newer but it's become a major
point of principle.

Trouble is, the floppy drive just doesn't seem to cope with raw mode discs at
all (I remember how fussy it used to be loading debian this way a while back
and you did get a few dodgy floppy discs but I've tried so many and nothing
works). Is it something I'm doing, or is it just a dodgy floppy drive?

Thanks

Paul
