[LUG] LVM

I thought you all might be interested in the comments made after i asked
eCOM list about LVM and JFS

(logical volume manager & journalizing file system)

I was suprised to see an article in P C Plus on LVM in the linux section

Is the LVM we all know and fear??

Linux LVM is a subset of OS/2 LVM. More specifically, it does not

support extended attributes.

I think you are mixing up LVM and JFS here.

As far as I know, Linux uses a different volume manager, also called "LVM"
and
the JFS implementation is nearly identical to the (OS/2) IBM implementation.

I think it is true that that Linux JFS does not support extended attributes.
(since Linux would not know what to do with them anyway)

I think they are talking about the Linux LVM made by IBM...

I have NO fear at all for LVM and I love it and used with a lot of
pleasure...

The "fear" comes from some persons on other mailinglist that are talking
ONLY on how they can down nail LVM/JFS and Big Blue and allso driven
people away from OS/2, inspider of what they are telling... :-)

With kind eCS regards,

anybody here know if they will work together?
