You need a new source at ISC - Mr Vixie usually knows what's
happening there in my experience - BIND 9 is too slow for the
root servers, one of the few groups of servers where performance
and security are critical for DNS.

BIND 8 is leading the field, for better or worse.

I prefer BIND 9, nice mix of features, security, and decent
documentation(!)
