Re: [LUG] Simian evolution on redhat 7.0?

Simian evolution? You mean Ximian Evolution?

I got it to work on my Redhat 6.2 Desktop install, but that involved
downloading the whole Ximian GNOME desktop.

I did try with my Mandrake 8.1 install, but I ran into dependancy hell with the
RPM's, and gave up!

But once it's running it has a look and feel to Outlook, only it is 10 times
better.

Quoting John Horne <J.Horne@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>:

Morning,

The subject says it really - anyone got this working? Or even on rh7.1/7.2?
I've been trying last week to get evolution to run under redhat 7.0 (from
the rh7.0 source rpm). It keeps failing (after a horrendously long
configure/compile process) at:

PreReq: /bin/sh /bin/sh
Requires(interp): /bin/sh /bin/sh
Requires(post): /bin/sh
Requires(postun): /bin/sh
Requires: bonobo >= 1.0.19 libgtkhtml20 >= 1.0.1 gtkhtml >= 1.0.1 libgal19
= 0.19 bonobo-conf >= 0.14 libnss3 >= 0.9.5 oaf >= 0.6.7

RPM build errors:
    File not found by glob:
/var/tmp/evolution-1.0.2-root/usr/share/gnome-pilot/conduits/*
    File not found by glob:
/var/tmp/evolution-1.0.2-root/usr/lib/gnome-pilot/conduits/*.so*
    File not found by glob:
/var/tmp/evolution-1.0.2-root/usr/lib/gnome-pilot/conduits/*.la

All the 'requires' are installed. The configure options I've used (to keep
it relatively simple) are:

--prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc --mandir=/usr/share/man
--infodir=/usr/share/info --localstatedir=/var --with-openldap
--with-pisock=/usr --with-kde-applnk-path=/usr/share/applnk --enable-nntp
--enable-pilot-conduits=no

Next step may be to try and get the whole thing (simian) installed without
messing the PC up entirely (my work PC). However, I only wanted to try out
evolution since it states that a (relatively cheap) addon enables it to
talk
to MS Exchange servers.

John.
