Those guides are generally pretty good, I've used them as a help (along 
with the course notes) for my Sun Certification Exams (and passed them :))

In my experince with the Sun notes they provide, they exactly match the 
published exam topics list, which may be enough to get you through the 
exams but misses quite a lot of the associated course content.
