I noticed that only the other day in Mozilla.
You just add two lines of code to your pages:

<LINK REL="icon" HREF="image.png" TYPE="image/png">
<LINK REL="SHORTCUT ICON" HREF="icon.ico">

The first line is for the icon in the top-left of the browser window and
the last line is the icon for the address bar.
