try gphoto,  and export to HTML,

ths works very well and

1. produces a mini web page of thumbnails, each linked to a larger version
of the picture, this larger version on a page also has buttons to go next,
previous and back to the main thumbnail page.

This is really excellent, and proof that what microsoft says about linux not
allowing innovation is total crap.
