I keephearing about LDAP - do you have your own LDAP server? Do you need to 
access one at the met office or something? What use is LDAP to ordinary bods 
like me?

Never tried it - presumably you mean the --comment <string> option in gpg.

Would you want to alter this regularly / dynamically?
Would you want different comments for different accounts?

I joined the kmail mailing list a little while back (I had issues with 
signatures made by keys that were later revoked (Kai) not being indicated as 
possibly compromised signatures in KMail - oops). Waiting to hear when the 
patch is in CVS.

Your comment string query can be put forward if there's a reason not to just 
stick the comment command in gnup.conf
