[LUG] Re: Sound again

While we are on the subject of sound i have a question for the group
I have a command line mp3 encoder which i want to use to convert all of my audio cd's and build an mp3 library for home and possibly later in the car.
I realise i cannot mount an audio cd as a file system, so whats the best way to get the audio tracks off the cd onto hard disk? and can i encode them straight off the cd??

Hope everyone is well
Best Regards
Kelly Jones

Hi,

I have checked the Mandrake site & agree that the DS1L audio is not listed.
However, under Mandrake 7.2 I was able to play my CD's through the cd player
and I'm sure I had some sound in a couple of the programs, neither of which
is possible now.

I need a 2.4 kernel though, to access the remainder of my hard disk which
the Bios ignores, so need Mandrake 8 or to compile a 2.4 kernel in 7.2 - but
8.0 has so much extra good stuff I do not want to lose it.

Any ideas?

TIA,

Mark Harvey

Hi Mark,

I do not have Mandrake (or a sound card at the mo!), but that sound
card isn't on M8's supported hardware list (hmmm the plot thickens).
When you say you are sure did you have in running?
