[LUG] Tom Dick and Harry

Dear each,
well after spending much of the night nursing Tom dick and harry, I
thought it best that I try to flash them, up and see what happens.
After looking at the minimum requirements on the cdroms from the open
day i had to find more ram as these require a minimum of 32 pref. 64.
well that turns out to be bobbins as 16 is working just fine but it
takes a little longer.

Bearing in mind that these computers have been sat in a shed for a
considerable time I was very pleased to see that Tom, the first one i
tried worked. I am now installing Red Hat 7. Dick on the other hand
didnt. He just had all of the lights working but no screen at all so I
dont know what is going on there. Harry I have not been able to try
because we need a larger hard drive as 400Meg just doesnt cut the
mustard.

Does anyone have a spare cdrom drive as none of these have them. I have
pinched my Mum's for the time being and I dont thinks she's 100's with
the idea.

On a different note, I have bought a USB 56k modem but I cant get it to
work The serial works a treat but the USB doesnt. the USB is enabled
in the BIOS and on startup the USB is found and working under Linux but
it doesnt recognise the new hardware. what dev/tty/xxxx do I need to
use? or am i barking up the wrong tree with that one?

ttfn JM
