You could *probably* mix them, but then you'd have to compile your code for the
lowest common denominator machine. For example if you had even 1 486 in the
cluster you'd have to compile your code for i386. OTOH, if everything is a
pentium 1, then i586 will work.
I think using different architectures (e.g. x86 and sparc) in the same cluster
is a no-no.
