Re: [LUG] Windows Scripting Host (WSH)

>>
Another good start would be to disassociate .vbs file extensions with the
inbuilt windows scripting thing. Has anyone seen vb scripting used for a
legitimate purpose?

Don't know whether it qualifies as a 'legitimate' use but Windows Update
sometimes uses WSH. The only user script that I've seen was to automatically
delete files pending for the printer - to save opening the printer
properties box. A whopping 100 lines of script code to achieve a reduction
of just two clicks!!!!!!!!!!!

I had WindowsME for a while and had an enormous battle to remove WSH - it
kept being re-installed automatically, including file associations in some
situations. In Win98 it is quite useful to remove all file associations that
show as using WSH but it is also very easy to remove the host itself from
Windows Setup|Accessories.

Only had one complaint so far about customising the browser settings with a
new ISP. So that's good news really! I HATE those stupid custom settings!!!

Anyways, that's enough about Windoze. Sorry for the diversion.
