Try pointing your browser at the IP address of the 2wire router and see if you can configure the router. (maybe http://192.168.0.1/ or whatever the IP address is).
Be sure to add a route to your GNU/Linux box to use the router IP as your default gateway.... You might want to configure the firewall first - --- but if it is doing NAT you are probably safe enough.
Something like.... route add default gw 192.168.0.1
