Subject: [LUG] EXCEL AND OPEN OFFICE[AV Scanned]

Hi

This is sligtly off topic but what the on earth does Excel measure cell dimentions in,

Think you’ll find height is in ‘points’  – the dimensions used for font sizes eg 8 point times New roman has height of 8 points.

Width is measured in characters at 8 point.

It makes sense if you are using a mechanical typewriter !

Ie set the font to courier 8 point, and set the width to 10, then text ‘0123456789’ will fit a cell exactly.

(courier because the characters are fixed width.

1cm = 28.3 points.
